Happy Friday

It is that time of the week again for Happy Friday! I am running out of things to write about on here, any suggestions would be appreciated?

We have been really busy with out of town guests.

We had Al and Tina from California stop by for a day on the Carnival Glory. We met Al and Tina almost ten years ago when we were all on a cruise through the Panama Canal and have kept in touch with them all these years. We took them to Magens Bay to the beach for the day with some Pizza at Island Time Pub in Red Hook.

Then it was off fishing and caught some Wahoo.

Then taking a friend from High School and her family and friends to Jost as they were here staying on St John.

And finally taking a group of friends over to Cane Garden Bay on Tortola and then Soggy Dollar.

And of course, we had another visitor come by, this tarantula.

Now we have guests in from where we used to live in Driggs, ID here for a few days, so it will have to be Jost tomorrow, fishing Saturday and watching the Jets beat Buffalo on Sunday.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!

After an unsettled start to the week, the Summer heat and steam has finally broke! And it was one hell of a hot Summer this year. It feels like winter here again with temps in the mid -80s and lows in the mid 70's. The humid haze is also gone!

We had a good day fishing on the South Drop yesterday, bringing in 3 wahoo, one being 40 lbs.

It was nice to get some blood on the boat!

Today I am heading over to St John to pick up an old High School friend and her family for a day over at Jost. Sunday I am taking some friends out for a birthday cruise on Sunday!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

Yes, I know it is Saturday, I forgot to post a Happy Friday!

With that being said, I think Halloween festivities here have finally come to end? There were parties last weekend, Thursday night (which is actually Halloween) and some last night.

We stuck to tradition and celebrated on Halloween! The dogs had fun!

We snuck out to Shenanigans Sports Bar to watch some football and have some fun! That is until the termites had a hatched and swarmed the bar! I ended winning the Halloween Contest, $50!

I finally got the name on the new boat!

Other than that, the Summer weather here has finally broke! It has been much cooler, with the trade winds back, only thing is it has been raining now for the last 3 days! But what a relief, I never thought that heat and humidity was going to end!

I leave you with this week's picture, from Point Pleasant Resort! Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

It is Friday again! Here is this week's edition of Happy Friday!

I don't think we will be doing any boating this weekend as our Black Lab, Chukar went in for his LAST heartworm shot today and is coming home tomorrow at noon, and we have to keep him calm and quiet! Blake our yellow lab just successfully completed his treatment, now poor Chukar. When we adopted both of these boys from a rescue group in North Carolina, Blake had tested positive for heartworm while Chukar didn't, that is it can take up to 6 months for the worms to show their presence, and they did. So yes, we are good dog owners and they don't have heartworm from while under our control. Let's not forgot to the VI dog owners, please have your pups on heartworm preventative!

Sunday we may sneak out to our new favorite place to watch football! Shenanigans at Megan's Point Resort. Have a little brunch next door at Simply Italian, which has the best $12 bottomless bloody marys and then to watch some football? Shenanigans has $2.50 Coors Lights and they are ice cold, flat screen TV's scratchcards when you buy a Coors Light, good bar food and fun people and staff! This place reminds me of The Caribbean Saloon and what it used to be 2 years ago.  https://www.facebook.com/shenaniganssportsbar

As I watch the news down here and look on Facebook, I see many of you are having signs of Winter with some having snow and lots of complaining about the cold? Do me a favor, send some of that down our way? We have had such a hot Summer and it is still not over yet with each day hitting 90 and when I go to bed 82 with no trade wind breezes. So yes, you may be cold, but I am still sweating! If it gets too cold, come on down for a visit?

Have a good weekend, Go JETS and I leave you with a picture of Megans Bay from Drake's seat taken today!

Happy Friday!

Went out fishing today in the afternoon on the new boat as I heard the wahoo bite was on!

No wahoo, had a blue marlin on, too bad it broke the line and took a $80 lure?

This weekend, Cane Garden Bay, BVI and fishing on Sunday as I doubt the Jets have a chance against New England?

Have a great weekend wherever you are and to those stateside, Fall is here I guess, stay warm!

Happy Friday!

It is that time of the week again for Happy Friday!

Good news! The National Park read the deeds that Rockefeller had drawn up when he donated all the lands to the National Park Service and my guess they contained that the Park could not restrict access to the beaches, so guess what?  As of last Sunday the beaches on St John are open again!

These photos are from a few weeks ago from a friend, Jeff Howard. They are Cruz Bay's Hollywood on St John. Kenny Chesney gave him a signed guitar! How nice and awesome that was of him to do that! Pure Life on a Rock?

We have a long weekend here and will probably head over to Jost on Monday for the holiday! Go Jets, beat those Steelers! Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

Wow! Here it is already Friday?

Here is another installment of "You Can't Make This Shit Up" to make you laugh!

As I mentioned last week we had the grand opening of Walgreens. Here is how it went!

Shoppers Flood Walgreens Opening
Crowds swarmed to the new Walgreens Saturday morning, waiting impatiently through the speeches and check presentations before streaming into the new, long-awaited store.

Wait, we have rocks here?

An Audit here found violations? This must be a first?

Audit Finds Violations in Agriculture Programs
The Agriculture Department’s negligence in administering its land leasing and land clearing programs violated the law and led to abuses of public property and services, according to an audit released Thursday.

I saw this one on On-St John today!

Here is Mic from Soggy Dollar Bar and some of his new toys as he was celebrating the next month off!

And of course, White Bay on Jost Van Dyke. What beach will you be on this weekend?

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend and hope your team wins! Maybe my Jets can pull out a win with their new wide receiver?

Happy Friday!

So far no tropical storms and the Saharan Dust has been in force all week!

On this Friday, I am going to give you some of our ways with our locally elected and government workers. Although somewhat funny, some of these stories want to make me puke? Again you cannot make this shit up?

Accused Police Sergeant Allowed to Work Pending Outcome of Trial
Angelo Hill, the V.I. Police sergeant indicted earlier this year for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking ring, has been allowed to go back to work at his family's car rental business pending the outcome of the case.

ST. THOMAS - After months of dodging its initial agreement to do so, the Economic Development Authority furnished an updated list of delinquent borrowers.
The list of 210 names sent Friday represents $6.4 million in delinquent loans made through the former Small Business Development Authority and the Government Development Bank since 1982.
However, the list still does not include many of the names or amounts referenced in an audit by the V.I. Inspector General's Office released in April that found Economic Development Authority's 2010 loan portfolio had a delinquency rate of 84.5 percent and that the Virgin Islands was owed about $8.5 million. The Economic Development Authority had lost millions of taxpayer dollars through negligent, insecure lending practices and through improper administration of its nine lending programs, the report stated.

ST. THOMAS - The Bovoni landfill is in danger of bursting at the seams, Waste Management Authority Executive Director May Adams Cornwall said Wednesday.
At the same time, an $18 million request from the Waste Management Authority could have the same impact on the government's budget, as it was not accounted for by the governor's financial team in their presentation to the 30th Legislature, according to Sen. Clifford Graham, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.

This is the one that makes me want to PUKE!  I can't believe this is an elected senator, and makes comments that she never says no and it is ok for a husband to rape his wife? Cultural differences here or just plain stupidity?

Yes, you cannot make this shit up. But then again, this kind of crap goes on no matter where you live?

Have a great weekend, I still have a JETS hangover.....

Happy Friday!

Only real thing to be happy about today is that this storm, formally known as Gabrielle is starting to leave? And it figures soon after I post why September is a great time to visit and how everything here is empty?

From my last post we had this storm coming and that was Wednesday, and here it is Friday and this thing is still hanging around, like a nasty head cold that won't go away?

Wed night all signs were pointing toward this storm leaving the area. I put up some of our hurricane shutters before I went to bed as our house is an older masonry home with arched windows. Only problem with these windows is no glass, just screens, but we have these wood doors to close up.

Sure enough about 4AM Thursday, I hear it pouring and the wind coming from the west (normally we get easterly trade winds). I got up and found rain pouring into house. So here I am in my boxers hanging the shutters and Shannon following me with towels. I thought the Weather Service said that this storm was moving to the north and out of here?

4 AM

5AM

I finally got back to sleep around 6:30 AM but poor Shannon had to go to work. It rained on and off again but just light rain through the day.

At 8:30 PM it was time for the first NFL game of the year! It started to rain again here pretty heavy with lightening. I guess Denver had the same issue? The game never got really going to about 9:30 PM. By that time our Dish TV was coming in and out. By 10PM I gave up and went to sleep instead. At least I had the house boarded up!

Friday morning, I slept fine through the night, Shannon didn't I guess. While having a cup of coffee I read my emails and this alert came through:

Description:
VITEMA's 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center received no reports of significant flooding on St. Croix, St. John or Water Island.

- Honduras - flooding, debris
- Veterans Drive - flooding, debris
- Mandela Circle - Flooding
- Northside (Four Corners) - Debris and boulders in the roadway
I am so glad the alert let us know that everywhere but here was ok?

After reading this email, I ventured out onto the property to survey the damage.

yes that is over 5 inches of rain

Pool has filled up and on the verge of overflowing into the pump closet, usually the water is right below the blue flowers.

These lovely pricker trees have decided to come into the yard?

Cistern overflowing, I was really surprised having 4 down spouts and only 1 drain we didn't flood the house. Now my favorite pictures

Shannon, I think we have a leak somewhere in our office here? Anyone know a good carpenter?

Here it is at 3PM, just GO AWAY already?

I would love to hear your story and if you have any pictures of what happened to you during this storm, please send them and I can post them.

So I guess I spoke too soon about September, don't come here this month, it sucks.

I know that by Sunday it will be beautiful again and I will have all the beaches to myself again!

You know I will be happy again once this crap leaves. Good luck with your favorite football team this weekend and enjoy the first Sunday of NFL! Go Colorado Buffaloes, beat Central Arkansas, Go Yankess beat those BOSox, and well the JETS, I guess it really doesn't matter if the season starts......

Happy Friday!
